No, it’s Modern Sonic! Yes, the same company that brought us that cute Classic Sonic statue (and the slightly larger Super Sonic) is now releasing the modern version of the blue blur.

First 4 Figures announced a while ago that they would be making a Modern version of our dear old hedgehog and today he finally went live. As usual, F4F time doesn’t correspond with the real time so we ended up a few minutes later. But, it was worth it.

Between the Classic and the Modern Sonics, there are quite a few differences in design. In the modern design, he started to look more like a teen than a kid and the colors started to get more vibrant. He also started to get more cocky. And the games started to suck. But, Generations fixed that last bit.

I actually like the top part of this statue quite a lot. It’s more Sonic-y then the Classic Line, more fast and dynamic looking. But I do have to say that I really don’t like the base… It looks a bit cheap, childish quality compared to the rest of the statue. I don’t know, I guess I just don’t like it…
Ordered him anyway and we’ll see how he’ll turn out eventually. Luckily, I like the light up function that comes with the exclusive. Makes the base look a bit better as well.

Another thing that kind of annoys me is the fact that F4F gradually ups their exclusive edition size more and more. Okay, I get it that they’re a company and need to make lots’a money but from a collectors point of view, it irks… Ah well, can’t win all I guess. As long as they don’t up it after it went live…
