Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Gashapons

I love gashapons. They’re so tiny and cute. And surprisingly, I also love Zelda. I did so since the one on the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System): The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I didn’t completely love the ones on the N64 but when the Wind Waker released on the Gamecube, I was back in the game! And after that, the Phantom Hourglass on the DS just conquered my heart. As did these lovely ones.

Released back in 2007, this small but wondrous set captured my heart from the start. We bought four figures of this set in a local game store. Yes, after a lot of searching, we only managed to find four of them in those irritating little blind boxes. Luckily, I succeeded in trading a double Tetra for the last missing one; Phantom. Yeah! We got them all! Happy us.

The set consists of Link (of course), the lovely pirate Tetra, your ever faithful (?) captain Linebeck, the cute Gongoron and his father the chief Biggoron and the watchful enemy Phantom. Even though they’re really nice, it’s still a shame that they didn’t continue this line and made some more. Especially some more enemies would have been nice… Ah well, can’t win them all I guess. Luckily, the ones released are quite nice. Each of them comes with a little item (yes, apparently Gongoron is considered an item) being; the Phantom Hourglass, a Heart Container, a Rupee and a Triforce piece. Even these really tiny, tiny pieces are well made and just lovely. Only got two complaints about this set, apart from the fact that it makes me sad that they didn’t made more characters. First problem I got is the sword of Phantom. It’s a bit on the floppy side. And it gets bend quite easily so you have to watch out for that. Another problem I have is with the materials they used. When I unpacked them to shoot these pictures I noticed they were sticky. Yeah, like iew.
Oh, I thought of another downside for these. Why are there stands for the figures but not for the items? Okay, again apart from Gongoron. There are holes supplied but no way to properly display them. Kinda annoying.

Conclusion:
But apart from those complaints, it’s really a wonderful set. If you liked the game or like The Legend of Zelda in general, just buy this set, it’s definitely worth it; they’re cute and well made. It’s such a shame that the only ones on Ebay are from Hong Kong and thus probably as fake as hell.

Item reviewed: Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Gashapons
Type: PVC
Manufacturer: Yujin
Variations: Both Phantom and Link were in the special edition of the game but without the Hourglass and the Triforce. Cheap-asses…
Rarity: not that hard too find but the problem is that the only ones on Ebay are from Hong Kong so they’re probably bootlegs…
