I previewed Pop Culture Shock their first Mortal Kombat statue quite a while ago. Even though we initially ordered him, thanks to a friend of ours, we didn’t like him and Jerry’s news made it even easier to cancel him. What news, you ask? Well, he announced that he would also do a Klassic (hehe) line. And said Klassic line would be more like his previously released statues: museum poses and black round bases. We liked that idea even more! And the time has finally come for us to pre-order the Klassic ones, starting with Scorpion!

And Reptile!?

Of course, I still think the outfits from the newer games are far more interesting but I’m glad we decided to go for the Klassics only. Not to mention the fail that was the other Scorpion. Quick explanation: ugly second head (boo!), resculpted second head and addition of third head (yeah!) and in the end, lot’s and lot’s of broken Scorpions (double boo!).
So, even though I really like the previewed Katana from the other line, we’re sticking to solely this one.

We’ve known that this one was coming for quite a while, he even was previewed at SDCC this year. But Jerry didn’t really liked him so he went back to the sculpting board and started to resculpt parts of him. And my, do we like!

Just like with the last few items he made, there will be a PCS exclusive of this Klassic Scorpion as well. And my, do we get something special! We’re not just getting a switchable part or something, no, we’re getting a whole different character! And even though I like that, it also means that we have to spend twice the amount to get both characters in one shot. Fortunately, Ingis started working this year…

The Pop Culture Shock exclusive will be available for pre-order this Monday and you better pre-order then because there’ll be only 99 150 pieces made of this exclusive. So, what’s so special about this exclusive? Well, the PCS exclusive version of Scorpion is going to be Reptile!
Yes, indeed, like I said, a completely different character…

Reptile will come with two interchangeable heads; one with his human face and mask and one without a mask showing his reptile visage preparing to use his ‘Acid Spit’ attack.
EDIT: Jerry will also include a little extra because of the edition increase:
“To show our thanks we are going to include an additional BONUS PIECE , a removable ‘acid spit’ that can be inserted into Reptile’s mouth.”

And not only is he quite limited, he’ll also only be available for pre-order through to the PCS website. So, to get this Reptile statue, you’ll have to email Jerry at exactly 17:00:00 Pacific Standard Time on November 5th. I’m really going to try to get my hands on this one even though I have to be awake before 2am (Tuesday). And you?

Of course, you can’t have an exclusive variant without having a regular as well. As of this time, I do not know yet whether or not there’s going to be an Sideshow Collectibles exclusive. My guess is that there will be one, possibly with an interchangeable head without his mask or even a skull head like the MK9 version. I really hope that it won’t be a Sub-Zero variant because that would mean that we have to buy three pieces in one shot…

I really like the subtle changes that Jerry made in the sculpt, it does look better now. And even though I still like the new costumes better, it really doesn’t look as plain as I first suspected. Oh my no, he can ‘finish me’ anytime he wants!

And update! Scorpion will finally be up for grabs tomorrow (29th of November) at the Sideshow Collectibles website! The SSC exclusive will include the Reptile arms, which I find kind of weird, besides the regular arms and an extra portrait, namely a masked skull. Personally, I rather wanted three heads instead of extra arms and an extra head. A full skull head would have been awesome too don’t you think? The regular will have an edition size of 350 while the exclusive will be limited to 200. I personally don’t like the small difference in edition size between the exclusive and the regular… Don’t know the price tag yet. I’ll update it with the links to the products when they’ll be put online.
Anyhow, this is going to be a definite pre-order for us tomorrow! He’s going to look so awesome next to Reptile.
