Did I Mention I'm Crazy?

DC Collectibles dropped a bomb on us

And they did that with their newest statue line: the DC Comics Bombshells!

I think that this is the first time I’m posting something regarding DC Collectibles stuff. Yeah, it is isn’t it. I generally don’t like their products mostly because of the bad end quality both in sculpt as in paint. But they just made themselves interesting in my eyes with the announcement of their newest line called the Bombshells.

Simply put, it’s the female cast of DC in pin-up form. If you’ve been living under a rock, or just too young to know, here’s our dear friend Wiki their explanation of a pin-up girl:

A pin-up girl, also known as a pin-up model, is a model whose mass-produced pictures see wide appeal as popular culture. Pin-ups are intended for informal display, e.g. meant to be “pinned-up” on a wall. Pin-up girls may be glamour models, fashion models, or actresses.
The pin-up images could be cut out of magazines or newspapers, or be from postcard or chromo-lithographs, and so on. Such photos often appear on calendars, which are meant to be pinned up anyway. Later, posters of pin-up girls were mass-produced and became an instant hit.

Oh, and they also have one for the term bombshell. Let’s see it shall we:

The term bombshell is a forerunner to the “sex symbol” and originally used to describe popular female sex icons. Modern slang refers to a bombshell as an extremely sexually attractive woman.
Bombshells are a special kind of sex symbol. Bombshells are popular icons recognized for their hourglass figures, their large breasts, sex appeal, and originally their blondness.

Yeah, lot of quotes. I know.

But what about these statues? Well, as I said, DC Collectibles has made two of the DC gals into, pin up styled, statues. And they look nice! But that isn’t that hard to imagine since they’re sculpted by one of my favorite guys namely Tim Miller. Yes, he also did: Ms Marvel, both Snowday and the new Lara Croft PF and the upcoming Lady Death. He sculpted a lot more but these are the ones I own or are about to.

Wonder Woman will be approximately 11.5 inch (~ 29cm) and Supergirl will be slightly taller with her 12 inch (~30.5cm) and both will be cold cast porcelain. Yes, porcelain. Kinda strange and something I’m not used to. And of course, I don’t really have faith in the company that will produce them so I’ll probably will wait and see how these turn out. Maybe I’ll buy them if the in-hand pictures are to our liking. Or maybe not. We’ll see.
