Did I Mention I'm Crazy?

I suggest you search for flames.

There aren’t that many Wii games, or Nintendo games in general, that get released with a special edition. But when they do release one, I generally want it even though it usually isn’t that much. I guess I just have a soft spot for Ninty. And the Zelda franchise of course.

Last year, Nintendo celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Zelda franchise. Yes, it’s a year older then I am. I started to love the series ever since the one on the Super Nintendo (SNES), lost interest in the N64 period but loved it again on the Gamecube. I even bought the 25th anniversary edition of the, The Legend of Zelda 3Ds but I never did pre-order the Wii edition. Don’t really know why. Wanted it badly though…

But luckily, my sweetie brought home a gift for me one day. He initially wanted to give it to me on my birthday but he finds it lame to give games for birthday gifts. I’ve told him lots of times that I don’t mind since they usually are things I really want… But enough chitchat, let’s get on to this edition.

Well, to start of, there isn’t anything particularly fancy about this edition as is usual with a Nintendo special edition. The box is pretty though and it clearly states what is included; the game, a soundtrack disc and a golden Wii-Mote.

Let’s mix things up a bit and start with the game case. The game sadly doesn’t come in a fancy box or something. They didn’t even made the game case in the same golden color as the rest of this edition. Boo! I do like the fact that they made it clear that it’s the game case from the 25th Anniversary Edition by using the, ugly red, 25th Anniversary logo. Really Nintendo, couldn’t even think of a nicer game case?

Secondly, the soundtrack disc. Actually, the term soundtrack is wrong in this case since it’s in truth a collection of live performances of the Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony. It’s nice to listen to, apart from a few songs, but also a bit strange since it’s not really a soundtrack persé since it isn’t just limited to songs from this game.
The track list consists of 8 songs and most actually combines multiple songs into one (thank you Zeldawiki for all this information regarding the songs inside the songs);

  1. The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Medley
00:00 Triforce Chamber from A Link to the Past

03:39 – Variations on Title Theme from The Legend of Zelda
  8. Ballad of the Goddess from Skyward Sword
00:00 Ballad of the Goddess from Skyward Sword

The booklet included with this CD holds some background information about the creators of Zelda and other stuff like it. Not that interesting but it’s fun to read once.

And lastly, the golden Wii-Mote. It’s so shiny and slightly sparkly. It’s pretty! But it’s more of a gimmick then something else because I can’t phantom anyone who’s willing to buy an edition like this, to actually use a controller like this one. Of course, the same can be said about the 3DS edition I have which I really do use…

Conclusion
I pretty much only love it because it’s Nintendo. Certainly not worthy of the price they dare to ask on Ebay and the likes but it was worth the original retail price as far as I’m concerned. Don’t get it unless you’re a big Zelda fan but then again, you’ll probably already have it don’t you…

Pros:
– Special outer box that’s quite pretty.
– Soundtrack on actual disc
– Fancy golden remote that I’ll never ever use
Cons:
– not a special game case
– Not a lot of extra’s, no artbook or stuff like that 🙁
