I’m Ikaryas, I’m the one who came up with this idea and decided on the name given to this little project. Did I Mention I’m Crazy comes forth out of the strange looks we get when people see our collection.

Did I Mention I'm Crazy?

A donkey, a donkey, my kingdom for a donkey!

I’ve been away for a few days, just visiting my family for a week and had a bachelorette party (no, not mine), and what do I see when I get back? First 4 Figures announced a new statue! And not just a new statue but also the first one in a new line! And I must say, minus some details, that I’m liking what I see.

They’ve announced their new license, being Worms, a while ago but only released a sneak last week I think… I didn’t like the sneak. It was like their impossible-to-guess teaser pictures. You didn’t see anything worthwhile. So, I didn’t really expected something worthwhile. But boy, was I wrong to doubt one of my favorite publishers of statues! This diorama of Worms 2: Armageddon is just awesome!

First of, they made the right choice for making this a diorama. A diorama, for those that are ignorant of this wonderful principle, is actually like a small scene with at least two characters or as wikipedia so wonderfully describes: the term “diorama” denotes a partially three-dimensional, full-size replica or scale model of a landscape typically showing historical events, nature scenes or cityscapes, for purposes of education or entertainment.
And this principle works great for something like Worms.

Secondly, I love, absolutely love, the fact that they did something else for the exclusive then just a light-up function. Granted, for some statues it works (although we hardly use the function apart from impressing folks) but mostly it’s just a bit meh.
But this exclusive just rocks! I mean, how awesome is the Banana Bomb? I still have the uncontrollable urge to throw banana’s and shout ‘Bombs away!’ every time I see the yellow curved fruit. But that aside, the grenade is cool to…

They also solved the no-arms problem quite neatly although it makes be a bit scared regarding shipping or to be more precise, almost inevitable breakages. But they did solve it quite good by attaching the hands to the guns and the guns to the heads. Reminds me of that old children’s song…

But even though I like this statue, I wouldn’t be me if I don’t have some problems with it. I’ll start from the bottom. I don’t really like the bottom part of the base. It’s too shiny. That earth and those rocks are popping up way too much. They should have blended in more. And I know, yes I know, that it’s completely like the art but I personally think that the eyes of the left Worm (for us right) would have been better if they were turned to the other Worm. More like they’re actually looking at each other and realize that they’re in one shitty situation.

What I also find weird, and thus don’t really like, is the edition size. I don’t like large edition sizes unless it’s big for a reason. Now, 423 (exclusive) and 1999 (regular), that I would understand because that would make the release date of Worms 2: Armageddon; 23th of April ’99. But 425 and 1995? At first I thought of the release date of the first Worms game which would have made for the correct year (thus the regular) but not the correct month or day. Yeah I know I’m picky.

And lastly, the price is a bit steep for a statue of this height. Of course, everything is getting more and more expensive these days but still… Their last statue (Modern Sonic) was the same price even though it was 5 inch (~12cm) taller but did have a larger edition size (750). Ahhhhhh, I don’t know. I mean, I love Worms but with everything that’s getting released/announced lately… But should they change the base, then it’s most likely a statue that will grace our display cabinets.
